I went to law school to advocate for public education in Utah. Utah ranks 49th in the nation for K-12 per pupil education funding. During law school, I participated in the Public Policy Clinic, studying and lecturing on the School-to-Prison Pipeline.

MASTERS OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION
To better understand the functions in government, I obtained a degree in public administration. This broadened my knowledge of human resources, ethics, nonprofit organizations, budgeting, finance, research, and social justice leadership.
NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION FOR TEACHERS
Seeking to continue to grow as an educator, I took the rigorous National Board assessment for teachers. Certifying in 2008, I recently renewed, and will be certified until 2029.

Feeling the desire to improve education from within, I sought a degree to become a school administrator. I served in the schools for 13 years as a principal.
